Basic information about our services and business
We service all types of small engines including lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, snow blowers, pressure washers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, and many other types of outdoor power equipment. If you're not sure whether we service your equipment, just give us a call!
Our technicians are experienced with all major brands including Honda, Briggs & Stratton, John Deere, Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Murray, and many others. We have access to parts and service information for both mainstream and specialty brands.
Yes! We offer free pickup and delivery within 25 miles of our shop in Zumbrota. For locations beyond 25 miles, we charge $1.50 per mile. This service is especially convenient for large equipment like riding mowers and generators.
Duane's Repair Service was founded in 1985, so we have over 35 years of experience serving the Minnesota community. Duane Cox, our founder, still works in the shop daily and personally oversees all major repairs.
Pricing & Estimates

No, all our estimates are completely free! We perform a comprehensive diagnostic check and provide you with a detailed written estimate before any work begins. There's no obligation to proceed with the repair.
Repair costs vary widely depending on the problem and parts needed. Basic tune-ups start around $65, standard service packages begin at $95, and major engine work typically ranges from $150-$400. We'll provide an exact estimate after diagnosing the problem.
For repairs over $300, we can arrange payment plans on a case-by-case basis. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. For emergency service or rush jobs, payment is due upon completion.
Absolutely not! Our estimates include all parts and labor costs. The only additional charges would be for emergency service ($25) or rush service (50% surcharge), which are clearly disclosed before work begins.
Service Process
What to expect when you bring your equipment to us
Most routine repairs are completed within 2-3 business days. More complex jobs may take 5-7 days. During peak season (spring and fall), it may take a bit longer. We'll give you an estimated completion time when you drop off your equipment.
Please bring the equipment itself, any manuals or documentation you have, and a description of the problem you're experiencing. Photos of the issue can be very helpful. If you've recently replaced any parts, please bring the old parts as well.
Yes! We offer on-site service for certain repairs and maintenance tasks. We can also arrange pickup for equipment that can't be easily transported. Call us to discuss your specific situation and get a quote for mobile service.
Yes! We believe in keeping our customers informed. We'll call you with progress updates for longer repairs and immediately notify you if we discover additional issues or if the repair costs significantly differ from our estimate.
Warranty & Guarantees
Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
All our repairs come with a warranty on both parts and labor. Warranty length varies by service type: basic repairs have 30 days, standard service has 90 days, and major engine work has 1 year warranty. Warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship.
Customer satisfaction is our top priority! If you're not completely happy with our work, please let us know immediately. We'll make it right at no additional charge. We want every customer to be completely satisfied with their repair.
Yes! Once we provide a written estimate, that price is guaranteed unless you approve additional work or we discover different problems during the repair process. We'll always contact you before doing any additional work.
Simply bring your equipment back to us with your warranty information. We'll replace the failed part and re-test the repair at no charge. We're committed to standing behind our work and ensuring your equipment runs reliably.
Emergency & Rush Service
When you need service fast
Yes! We offer emergency service for equipment failures that impact your business or immediate needs. Emergency service is available 7 days a week with a $25 fee. We prioritize emergency repairs and work to get your equipment running as quickly as possible.
Our rush service delivers most repairs within 24-48 hours instead of our standard 3-5 business days. This service has a 50% surcharge but can be essential when you need your equipment back quickly for work or urgent projects.
